BdF was awarded in Moscow, Russia, during the 2025 edition of the “Expert of the Year” event, which celebrates the most impactful initiatives across several fields, in the category of “International Media”.
According to the organizers, the award recognizes leaders who have “implemented significant social and business initiatives in Russia and, in partnership with Russia, in other countries.”
“For several years, the project has been identifying innovative ideas in cultural, economic, social, and business spheres. Participants include professionals from Russia, Iran, Brazil, and other countries,” reads the event’s official website.
The “Expert of the Year” award is organized by the “Expert – Analytical Center”, promoted by the World Club of Petersburg and supported by TV Brics, which established a cooperation partnership with BdF in September 2025.
The recognition was granted to BdF’s Executive Director, Nina Fideles, who, according to the organizers, was named “winner of the 2025 Expert of the Year award in the International Media category for her contribution to strengthening cooperation between Russian and Brazilian media and to advancing the Global South agenda.”
Fideles emphasized that BdF is committed to building “new communication hubs, new alliances, and new horizons” in a changing world. The recognition as an international media reference at “Expert of the Year”, she said, acknowledges this mission.
“This recognition reaffirms that BdF’s collective and independent journalism is in dialogue with a world in transformation, a world striving for political multipolarity, valuing grassroots experiences, and strengthening initiatives such as Brics,” she stated.
“May this award further reinforce our commitment to produce journalism with depth, rigor, and credibility, to dispute narratives from the Global South. We will continue crossing borders, including symbolic ones imposed by major media conglomerates,” Fideles concluded.
BdF has maintained a permanent correspondent in Moscow since 2022, making it the only Brazilian media outlet with a fixed presence in Russia, accredited by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The “Expert of the Year” jury highlighted that the media’s role has become central to enabling global dialogue. In this sense, BdF was selected for its contribution to coverage of Brics and Global South issues.
Receiving the honor on behalf of BdF’s leadership, the outlet’s correspondent in Russia, Serguei Monin, said that awards like this recognize the value of providing Brazilian audiences with an in-depth journalistic perspective on Russia, helping foster understanding between different cultures and complex political realities.
“We are deeply honored by this nomination. When we talk about Brics countries like Brazil and Russia, we know they have unique histories and many differences. Interaction among experts from various fields expands the tools available for collaborative platforms,” Monin stated. “This helps offer the public a richer and more diverse view of the world.”
