The director-general of Brazil’s Federal Police, Andrei Rodrigues, called the statements made by licensed federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (Liberal Party) against the corporation a “cowardly attempt at intimidation”.
“You’re mediocre with a pen in your hand. Take advantage of that and put it in the inquiry. Don’t let me know who you are. If I find out who you are, I’ll take measures from here,” Eduardo threatened during a live broadcast on Sunday (20). He even called a Federal Police agent who was watching the broadcast a “puppy”.
Eduardo also directly mentioned Police Chief Fábio Alvarez Shor, who is leading investigations into former President Jair Bolsonaro (Liberal Party).
Rodrigues said the threats will be included in the inquiry investigating Eduardo Bolsonaro for obstruction of justice, coercion in the course of proceedings and attempting to violently abolish the democratic rule of law in Brazil. “No person under investigation will intimidate the Federal Police,” said the director-general.
The parliamentarian is the target of an investigation launched by the Attorney General’s Office, which is investigating his alleged actions in the United States to influence cases involving his father.
In another moment on the livestream, Eduardo even said he was going through a war, clearly referring to investigations. “My skin is thick; the war is not over. There will be more sacrifices ahead. I’m willing to go to the last consequence,” he said.
Andrei Rodrigues guaranteed that the institution would take “legal action” about what he considered to be intimidation against the Federal Police.
Eduardo Bolsonaro has been in the U.S. since February, where he is politically active on behalf of his father, who is accused of attempting a coup after losing the 2022 elections. The parliamentarian left Brazil claiming political persecution. On U.S. soil, the former president’s son is dedicated to building political alliances in his father’s favor.
