BdF and Russian channel TV Brics signed a partnership agreement last Friday (19) to deepen the exchange of journalistic content among Brics countries.
The document was signed at TV Brics headquarters in Moscow by BdF’s executive director, Nina Fideles, and the network’s director-general, Janna Tolstikova.
The partnership envisions the creation of a unified information space for Brics+, sharing objective information on the humanitarian and economic activities of member and partner countries, and strengthening cooperation among nations.
According to Fideles, the initiative is part of BdF’s broader strategy to strengthen ties with media outlets in the countries where it maintains correspondents: Russia, China, Venezuela, and Cuba. BdF has had a correspondent in Moscow since 2022, making it the only Brazilian outlet with a permanent presence in the country, accredited by Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“The partnership between BdF and TV Brics marks an important step in strengthening ties between Brazilian and Russian media, especially in the Brics context. It reflects our commitment to share cultural, economic, and political aspects of Russia with Brazilian and Latin American audiences, promoting a deeper understanding of the country and its relations with Brazil,” Fideles said.
She added that this cooperation will help broaden relations among Global South media outlets, fostering plurality of information through the production and circulation of content that highlights the experiences and perspectives of Bricscountries, as well as their cooperation and dialogue.
Fideles emphasized that media outlets play a central role in today’s international political arena, and BdF sees it as “necessary and urgent” to highlight this role in the global debate.
Anastasia Chichkalova, head of TV Brics’ Latin America department, praised BdF’s presence and coverage in Russia, noting that “in the year of Brazil’s Brics presidency, strengthening cooperation with Brazilian media is of great strategic importance.”
“BdF is a respected media outlet, with a strong presence in Brazil and internationally, including in Russia. The mutual commitment to building a reliable media exchange and promoting understanding of the Brics’ unique role in today’s world creates a solid foundation for meaningful collaboration on the international agenda,” Chichkalova said.
She added that strengthening dialogue with Brazil in the field of communications makes it possible to disseminate reliable, high-quality information about the activities of Brics member states, while also presenting their political and social positions on the international stage.
Beyond Brazil, TV Brics partners with media outlets in Argentina, Venezuela, Cuba, Mexico, Chile, and Uruguay. In total, more than 20 of Latin America’s leading media organizations collaborate with the network.
