Brazilian artists Caetano Veloso and Maria Bethânia won the Grammy Award for Best Global Music Album at the 2026 Grammy Awards for Caetano e Bethânia Ao Vivo, a live album recorded during the siblings’ joint tour across several Brazilian states in 2024.

With the win, Maria Bethânia became the first Brazilian woman to receive a Grammy in an international album category with a project entirely produced and recorded in Brazil. Caetano Veloso had previously been recognized by the Recording Academy in 2000, when he won in the former Best World Music Album category for Livro (released in 1997).

When the album was nominated, Bethânia described the project as an honor. “I think it’s beautiful, it carries a whole lifetime, a fraternal musical encounter,” she said in an interview with Uol. “On my part, there is deep admiration for Caetano’s work and his compositions. Doing this show with him was an honor, a great joy, a beautiful response. And now, seeing the Grammy choose our album together is truly meaningful.”

The trophy was presented last Sunday (1) in Los Angeles and received by jazz singer and host Dee Dee Bridgewater, as neither Caetano nor Bethânia attended the ceremony.
