Journalist Pamela Oliveira hosts our weekly English-language show featuring the latest news and fun facts about Brazil - Screen capture/Brasil de Fato

This week on What's Happening in Brazil, the novel coronavirus pandemic is again at the forefront of world affairs. May 1st celebrates International Workers’ Day or May Day to many, and the global working class is uniting, though virtually, due to the pandemic. Online gatherings and coordinated actions will mark the event this year, that has solidarity and the preservation of the lives of workers at its core.

In our Culture Talk and Story of the Week segments, learn how residents of the poorer areas of Brazil are coming together to support each other during this trying time, as well as furthering the cultural roots that make up their communities in the first place.

Whether through the arts, or through direct assistance, the citizens of the most vulnerable regions in the nation are working to overcome shared difficulties that as always, affect mainly the poor, women and people of color.

Finally, in Brazilianism, learn yet another delicious recipe to try out at home, and listen to eclectic music coming from all walks of this huge and diverse country.

All What's Happening in Brazil  episodes are available at Brasil de Fato’s YouTube channel, where you'll also find a special English-content playlist.

Partners who wish to include a longer version of the show in their schedule may contact our international team at [email protected] or send a WhatsApp message to +55 11 993 055 156.
