On Thursday (25), British musician Roger Waters, a former member of the rock band Pink Floyd, posted on his X profile about the presidential elections in Venezuela, which will take place on Sunday (28). In a video, Waters declared his support for Nicolás Maduro, who is seeking reelection, and said his right-wing opponent, Edmundo González Urrutia, is a "sock puppet" of the United States and compared him to Juan Guaidó, who proclaimed himself president of Venezuela in 2019.
“There is another snake in the grass. She is called [Corina] Machado, and she has another puppet [Edmundo] González. He is also a representative of the government of the United States of America,” Waters said.
“Revolutions are difficult. The Bolivarian Revolution is difficult, but it succeeded. My message for you today is to vote for President Maduro on July 28. Why? Because Venezuela belongs to you, the people of Venezuela.

Pro-Palestine stance
In January this year, Waters was fired from his record label, the German company BMG, because of comments he made about the war in Ukraine and the Israeli invasion of the Gaza Strip, according to US magazine Variety.
During his South America tour, the musician said he was being targeted by a sabotage campaign drawn up by Israeli activists due to his pro-Palestine stance.
In 2015, the former bassist of Pink Floyd tried to convince Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil to cancel their shows in Israel.
